My family body

My family is a Body
My dad is the legs, supporting us always
My mom is the head, always in charge
My youngest sister is the fingers, always doing something
My younger sister is the bladder, always having to go
My older sister is the navel, at the center of everything
And I am the nose, always smelling

Lyric Pick

"Wavin' Flag" - K'naan

Lyrics:
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
Born to a throne, stronger than Rome
But Violent prone, poor people zone
But it’s my home, all I have known
Where I got grown, streets we would roam
But out of the darkness, I came the farthest
Among the hardest survival
Learn from these streets, it can be bleak
Accept no defeat, surrender retreat
So we struggling, fighting to eat and
We wondering when we’ll be free
So we patiently wait, for that fateful day
It’s not far away, so for now we say
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
So many wars, settling scores
Bringing us promises, leaving us poor
I heard them say, love is the way
Love is the answer, that’s what they say,
But look how they treat us, make us believers
We fight their battles, then they deceive us
Try to control us, they couldn’t hold us
Cause we just move forward like Buffalo Soldiers
But we struggling, fighting to eat
And we wondering, when we’ll be free
So we patiently wait, for that faithful day
It’s not far away, but for now we say
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)
And everybody will be singing it
(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)
And you and I will be singing it
(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)
And we all will be singing it
(Ohhh Ohh Ohh Ohh)
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
And then it goes back, and then it goes back
And then it goes back
When I get older, when I get older
I will be stronger, just like a Waving Flag
Just like a Waving Flag, just like a Waving flag
Flag, flag, Just like a Waving Flag.

Another Version: Remix: I believe for the World Cup and Coca-Cola
Ooooooh Wooooooh, Ooooooh Wooooooh
Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, it surround us, every nations, all around us
Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game,
And together at the end of the day.
We all say
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Oooohhh, Oooooooooh wooooohh, Oooooooooh wooooohh
Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher
See the champions, take the field now, unify us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, its around us, every nations, all around us
Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game,
And together at the end of the day.
We all say
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Now wave your flag (4x)
Oohhoooohh Woooh Ohohooooh Wooohoooh
We all say
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Now wave your flag (4x)
Oooooh woowoo ooh Wooo ooohh ooohoh
And everybody will be singing it
Oooooh woowoo ooh Wooo ooohh ooohoh
And we all will be singing it

The first song is the original and is about how South Africa is hard to grow up in. He was living in the streets looking for food and waiting for freedom. Then he goes on to say how when he grows up he will be stronger and do something about it. Make them proud to be free and proud for their country.
The second song is just a Remix about the world cup and everyone can have a good time and have fun. They celebrate how the players and team represent their Country. They want them to win and it captures the attention of the world to see how their country does. It also is talking about how it brings the world together.
I also like this song because I play soccer.

Some quotes I took out of here are 1. " We fight their battles, then they deceive us" This is talking about how all of the larger powers of the world and other countries take advantage of them and make them fight their battles for them. They give them promises, then they just kick them back to where they got them or just abandon them and don't keep their promise.

2. "See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud" This is talking about watching the world cup and how the team defines you and your country. You root for them cause you want them to win, and make you proud.

3. "And we wondering, when we’ll be free
So we patiently wait, for that faithful day
"
This means that they are waiting for someone to do something for their country. Waiting for someone to make them free so they can do what they want.

4. "But Violent prone, poor people zone
But it’s my home, all I have known
"
This is talking about the people who live in poor countries. It is all they know is poverty and scraping for food everyday. It's where they grew up and all they know how to do.

5. "They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag"
This is talking about what a flag represents. Also how it represents you, your countries freedom and your unity as a whole.

My Name

My name's literal meaning is very straightforward. Derek means clan leader or leader of the clan. My last name means home, or ruler. So literally I should be a ruler or president or something of that sort. But I don't know if I really want to be a ruler or something like that. Of course being in charge is always fun, but if you do something wrong, it's all on your head, shoulders, knees, and toes. So I don't think I want to be a leader of too many people. How I got my name was whenever my parents said my name, I would laugh or get all exited. So they just named me Derek.

I am not my friends so I don't know how they think of me. But I want people to see my name and think of good things, not like druggie or retard. You have to make a pretty big impression on someone for them to just see your name and they automatically think of something. I kind of hope I do that, just in a good way.

I can relate to John Proctor about not wanting his name to be soiled in the town, people thinking about the devil and witches when they think of him. I know that I don't want people to think of the devil when they see my name. But what really bugs me is when you are accused of doing something wrong that never happened and then when people see you or your name, they think of the thing you did wrong even if it isn't true.

My name means a lot to me and I don't want anyone to think of it as unclean or stupid. It is like your title or what you are known by, it is a big part of your life. It's more important than people think.

Crucible Characters

Naomie Harris: Tituba
In the play The Crucible, I have decided to cast Naomie Harris as Tituba. She is described as a black slave from Barbados who supposedly knows some magic. Naomie Harris has played Calypso, a sea goddess in Pirates of the Caribbean. She can be very mysterious and very magical. She knows how to play here part. She could very easily be the person who leads the girls in the summoning and dancing. She could come up with the lie about the devil and go on with it.

                  Johnny Depp: Reverend John Hale
For Reverend John Hale, I have selected Johnny Depp. Reverend John Hale is described as a witchcraft expert. He is the minister of a neighboring town of Salem called Beverly. Johnny Depp can solely believe in his role and could make it seem like he really believes all this stuff, unless he already does, then it would be easier.

Jack Black: Thomas Putnam

Jack Black has played many roles throughout his career. Many of those being rich people. I believe that Jack Black would adapt well to the role of Thomas Putnam. Being described as a wealthy land owner, Thomas Putnam has a lot of influence in the village of Salem. I feel Jack Black could create that presence. Especially with his role in King Kong.

Julie Andrews: Goody Rebecca Nurse
I feel that Julie Andrews should play Rebecca Nurse. She is an older, likable charitable woman, just like Rebecca Nurse. Rebecca is described as the mother of 11 children, grandmother of 26 and well known for her charity. Julie Andrews could easily play this stern, older, wise, charitable woman.

Viggo Mortenson: John Proctor

For John Proctor, I have chosen to cast Viggo Mortenson. I believe if he grows his hair out a bit, he would make a good farmer. Like the picture to the left. He is a serious looking man who looks sensible. He is a man who can get a job done. His cast in Lord of the Rings was very convincing and I believe he would make a good farmer.

Bette Davis: Abigail "Abby" Williams

I believe that Bette Davis would make a wonderful Abby. She can look like a sweet girl but can go right back to bad in an instant. She can give you that look and expression of just cruelty but go back to being sweet at a moments notice.

Emma Thompson: Goody Ann Putnam

Emma Thompson is a good choice for Goody Ann Putnam because of some of her previous rolls. She had played "Professor Trelawney" on Harry Potter. She had some freak out moments on there, and I think she should bring it here. Ann Putnam had 7 babies die right after birth and now she is kind of possessed with it. She believes some of the townswomen who delivered her babies are witches. She would make a good Ann Putnam.

Kate Winslet: Marry Warren

Kate Winslet has a look that can be taken two ways. One is going with the crowd and her friends, but she is one who tells the truth when she needs to and says what's right and what's wrong. She would make a very good Marry Warren.

Meryl Streep: Goody Elizabeth Proctor
I believe that Meryl Streep would make a good Elizabeth Proctor. She is a nice lady but you don't want to cross her. She could be a good Mrs. Proctor being married to John Proctor also. They would do well together but not get along completely.

Russel Crowe: Reverend Samuel Parris
I believe that Russel Crowe should play Reverend Samuel Parris. Russel Crowe has a leadership aura about him and people like to follow that. He also played in the movie gladiator which shows he can also have a wild side. He would make a very good Reverend.

Crucible Post

Many people say majority is always right. I say it is right, most of the time. Most people can discern right from wrong but sometimes it's harder than other times, and some people just have no idea what is going on. Authority is most of the time right because most people have a good idea of things, however not always because some people lie and manipulate their way to power and people follow them, and sometimes the public mind is disabused and do not always vote and stand up for what's right.

Most of the time, the public has a pretty good idea of what is going on around them. The majority of people can identify right from wrong. However, there are always a few people who either don't fully understand what the situation is and vote against the majority, or they are just hopelessly confused and shouldn't be voting for whatever they are voting for in the first place.

Some people can lie and manipulate their way to the top and get people to follow them. Sometimes they have  voices and looks that people like and want to follow, so they can convince people to follow them. They can be very manipulative and convincing. They make it so that whatever they want sounds the best. Then when whatever that they want comes to power or whatever they wanted succeeds, it is most of the time bad or worse than it was before.

Then other times people are lied to and cheated and vote for someone or something that is not true of what they think. People bend and twist the truth and people realize they have been cheated after the final outcome. It is wrong and some people enjoy twisting the truth and confusing large masses of people.

In conclusion, the majority is most of the time right. However, people can manipulate other people or influence them in the wrong way. A lot of the time there is a right way and wrong way to every problem or question. The majority can most of the time get it right.
